ELEFAS

ELEFAS takes its name from the local Prespa bean — a crop deeply connected to the land, the memory, and the everyday life of the region.

The complex is conceived as a small contemporary settlement composed of distinct volumes, inspired by the morphology of the area’s traditional villages, their pathways, passages, and the collective life unfolding around shared outdoor spaces.

The covered verandas and viewing points function as transitional spaces for observing the landscape, while the reflective surfaces at the base of the building introduce the sensation of the lake and reflection into the architectural experience.

The proposal seeks to balance grounding and solidity with light, silence, and the natural fluidity of the place.

Το ΕΛΕΦΑΣ αντλεί το όνομά του από το τοπικό φασόλι των Πρεσπών — έναν καρπό βαθιά συνδεδεμένο με τη γη, τη μνήμη και την καθημερινότητα του τόπου.

Το συγκρότημα οργανώνεται ως ένας μικρός σύγχρονος οικισμός επιμέρους όγκων, εμπνευσμένος από τη μορφολογία των παραδοσιακών οικισμών της περιοχής, τις διαδρομές, τα περάσματα και τη συλλογική ζωή γύρω από κοινόχρηστους υπαίθριους χώρους.

Τα χαγιάτια και τα σημεία θέασης λειτουργούν ως ενδιάμεσοι χώροι παρατήρησης του τοπίου, ενώ οι ανακλαστικές επιφάνειες στη βάση του κτιρίου εισάγουν την αίσθηση της λίμνης και της αντανάκλασης μέσα στην αρχιτεκτονική εμπειρία.

Η πρόταση επιχειρεί να ισορροπήσει τη γείωση και τη βαρύτητα με το φως, τη σιωπή και τη φυσική ρευστότητα του τόπου.
