CHEMIN

The architectural proposal is approached holistically, as a unified wooden sculptural form that reshapes the volume of the existing building. It operates almost like a skin or envelope made of handcrafted natural materials — at times solid and protective, at others perforated and filtered — creating a variety of spatial experiences while introducing new spatial layers.

This sculptural element “moves” across the building, adapting to the needs of shading, circulation, sun protection, and privacy, while intensifying the presence of planting and greenery. It is variable, rhythmic, airy in certain areas and solid in others. Where needed, it “stands” as a canopy. Elsewhere, it “lightens” into a pergola. In other moments, it “withdraws,” revealing the building beneath.

The formal vocabulary draws references from Indonesian tradition: the use of natural materials, multilayered roofs, structures that seem to emerge organically from the landscape, and an emphasis on half-light and filtered illumination.

Η αρχιτεκτονική πρόταση αντιμετωπίζεται ολιστικά, ως ένα ενιαίο, ξύλινο μορφοπλαστικό γλυπτό, το οποίο σμιλεύει τον όγκο του υπάρχοντος κτιρίου. Λειτουργεί σχεδόν σαν δέρμα ή περίβλημα από χειροποίητα φυσικά υλικά, άλλοτε στέρεο και προστατευτικό, άλλοτε διάτρητο και φιλτραρισμένο, δημιουργώντας ποικίλες χωρικές εμπειρίες και προσθέτοντας νέες χωρικές ενότητες.

Το γλυπτικό αυτό στοιχείο «κινείται» πάνω στο κτίριο, προσαρμόζεται στις ανάγκες σκίασης, διέλευσης, ηλιοπροστασίας και ιδιωτικότητας, εντείνοντας τα στοιχεία φύτευσης. Είναι μεταβλητό, ρυθμικό, αέρινο σε σημεία και στιβαρό σε άλλα. Όπου χρειάζεται «στέκεται» σαν στέγαστρο. Αλλού «ελαφραίνει» σαν πέργκολα. Σε άλλα σημεία «αποσύρεται»,αποκαλύπτοντας το κτίριο.

Το μορφικό λεξιλόγιο αντλεί αναφορές από την ινδονησιακή παράδοση: τη χρήση φυσικών υλικών, τις πολυεπίπεδες στέγες, τις κατασκευές που μοιάζουν να γεννιούνται από το τοπίο, την έμφαση στο ημίφως και το φιλτραρισμένο φως.
